Is country music making a lap around the barn? The heavy handed bro-country themes and the syrupy sweet, nonsensical pop lyrics with hip-hop electronic beats may have brought an influx of cash and a whole new demographic to “country music”. However, at the same time, artists, fans and even some label moguls have hinted that change could be coming sooner than later.
Personally, I don’t think those elements will ever go away. Change is inevitable in any form of music. But a healthy mix of a more traditional sound and artists with the determination to set a trend, as opposed to chasing what’s new, bright and shiny, would certainly be welcomed.
